PMPML to publish bus timetable
Indian Express: People travelling by Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) buses are a harried lot with no route timetables available in the market to refer to.
The last time that a PMPML bus timetable was available in the market was in 1998. “Issues like introduction of new bus routes, extension of existing routes, meeting citizens’ demands, BRT schedules and most importantly, the Pune Municipal Transport-Pune Chinchwad Municipal Transport (PMT-PCMT) merger in 2007 kept us waiting for the right time to publish the booklet. There is a problem of getting the sponsors as well. We are currently working on a 250-page book that includes all the routes in the city and 5,000 copies of the same should be available in a month’s time,” said one of the officials of PMPML.
The timetable was first published in 1992, when it was released in the form of a 72-page booklet that included information about 176 routes covered by the public transport, then known as the PMT. The booklet was revised in 1998 and made into a 144-page book that included additional 40 routes. There has been no revision since then.
Today, the PMPML has over 10 lakh commuters travelling in over 1,600 buses plying on 349 routes across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. “The availability of the time table can make things easy for us. Even boards and displays at a majority of the bus stops either display no information or incorrect information about bus timings,” said Vinayak Joshi (60), a resident of Kothrud, a frequent traveller.
ugal Rathi, president of the PMP Pravasi Manch (PMPPM), a city-based organisation working towards the betterment of services offered to PMPML commuters, said, “We have been following up this issue for last four years. On April 13, 2008, they had published 10,000 copies of the timetable for Katraj depot. The copies were to be launched by Ajit Pawar but it didn’t happen due to last-minute change of his plans. We feel they do not want to publish timetable because then there will be an obligation to abide by it.”

The site of PMPML bus route and timetable is under construction for so many months! !!!
why the pune corporation do not make availabl the old pmt pune site? It was also a good and informative site. when I compare this with site launched by railway I find a great difference. The indian Railway is spread in all over India. Yet the site is working all the online functions ,and giving information widly and accuratly. Can Pune corporation will gate the lesson from Railway department?
I compare the site of pmpml with railway sites and not the pmt pune sites.
