United we stand, Divided we fall

flagBelonging to any particular city or region is always a thing of pride. Am sure it makes us feel good to belong from the city or state we have spent half our life in. However when you say I belong to India the feeling of pride just gets magnanimous. We are the only nation to have diversity in languages, and culture. However of lately it seems that half the bunch of our country has forgotten that they belong to our nation and rather prefer to limit themselves to a particular state. Some polluted minds seem to rope in people to make them believe that we need to stand and fight for a city or state on baseless grounds.

It makes me wonder what is it that makes us discriminate among people from our own country. Why do the States have to open up a verbal duel to make their presence felt? Why can we not stand together and feel the same warmth for people regardless of their religion, caste or language?

As a child we are not aware about this dark side, and then as we grow what makes us follow this unethical path blindly, remains a question. Well how much ever you scratch your brain to find an answer to this, it is difficult unless you are those types who believe in fighting for your state rather than your country.

The true warriors sacrificed their life so we could live in an Independent India. If there were to see the situation now, they would have been embarrassed to have given up their life. The army that guards the border so you sleep in peace is not worth the effort if we all plan to dig up internal fights. Why should they stay away from the family and play on their life only to protect you to create disharmony among the nation.

Diversity in India was considered our vital strength but unfortunately it has digressed to our weakness due to ignorant handfuls. With people fighting against citizens of their own country we show the world how and where we stand as a Nation. Apart from such baseless fights the country has lots more to worry about issues like poverty, crime, terror, infrastructure, and many others. It is time to wake up, come together and work to find a solution to put an end to these problems. We pledge in school to stay in harmony but the moment we step out we seem to forget about it.

The words of the pledge mean something and we should strive to follow it all our life, as a reminder to treat each and every countrymen of India with respect. No matter what state you belong to, at the end of the day we all are Indians and above that human beings. Say no to discrimination and work towards unity. Waiting for the other person to take the first step won’t help. Be that first person to make the difference. If all of us strive to take this first step, I am sure the country would be much peaceful and loving nation to stay in.

This Republic Day let’s all of us vow to stand together as one rather then playing the blame game and promise to take our nation further in every aspect. Jai Hind! feel proud to be an Indian first then a citizen of any other city or state.
