Inter NGO Cricket Tournament 2010
Innocent Heroes Foundation (IHF) in association with Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) and Sakal Social Foundation has organized an Inter NGO Cricket Tournament in the month of January 2010, Pune.
The main objective of this cricket tournament is to give a platform to the children of a different society who are called orphans, street children, and child labors, children of sex workers, destitute and children at risk who are left behind in life because of the background they carry.
Many of them are taken care by various NGO’s. But the aim is to go beyond the basic food, education and shelter gamut and create opportunities to do promotional activities focusing on their personality development, extra-curricular skills and talents for the underprivileged children. It is surprising the amount of talent that exists among these children and all they need is an opportunity that needs to be tapped. The motive of Innocent Heroes Foundation is to help them bridge the gap successfully that would help in their overall development.
The tournament for “Innocent Heroes Trophy 2010” will begin on 24th January 2010 and will end on to 27th January with the Final Match conducted on Deccan Gymkhana and PYC Ground simultaneously.
As suggested by MCA, to get the quality teams they had selection matches on a knock out basis on 16th, 17th and 18th of December in Aryan Cricket Academy, Hadapsar.
32 NGO across Pune had sent in their applications for the participation. Innocent Heroes Foundation conducted qualifying rounds of 16 NGO’s, out of which the 8 winning teams were qualified. This was as per the guidelines, provided by MCA and to maintain the quality of the Teams.
The main objective of this match is to select 20 Best Players of age group under sixteen to form a NGO Combine Team called “Innocent Heroes”. This team will be trained and coached to play the future matches that are organized by MCA during end of every year where they plan to participate in 2010 Invitations Matches. Innocent Heroes Foundation will promote and sponsor the coaching of these 20 players through their corporate tie-ups.

Prizes & Awards
There will be winning and runners-up team trophies along with cash prizes. Apart from the above there will be ‘Player of the match’ award for all the matches and awards for ‘Best Batsman’, ‘Best Bowler’, ‘Best Fielder’, ‘Best Wicket Keeper’ and ‘Player of the Tournament’ will be given. Certificate of participation will be provided to all.
Maharashtra Cricket Association will scout for the best players and will sponsor, coach and promote the player at a National Level.

Founded by the Managing Director Sheetal Kharka Innocent Heroes Foundation’ is a “Not for Profit Organization registered Under Section 25 Companies Act. IHF provides a dais of opportunities to bring out the talents and creativity in the underprivileged children, be it in Sports, Art, Culture, Music, Adventure, Dance, vocational training and many more. Nurture and grow the “hero” in an underprivileged child is what they are aiming at.
Their past events include Inter NGO cricket tournament 2009, Himalayan Expedition – “Trek of Hope” where IHF took 23 underprivileged girls for a 12 day Himalayan Expedition in the month of June 2009. And lastly the dance workshop by Sandip Soparkar for 200 privileged children for a special “Save Water” project at Endurance Health Club. All these events have been successful in the past and have been responsible for developing the personalities and self confidence of kids immensely.
