Chess tournament will be held from January 23 in Chinchwad
Indian Express: The Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Mahanagar Chess Association and the Rotary Club of Chinchwad will organise a chess competition from January 23-24 at Shradhashram English Medium School in Chinchwad.
The tournament would be held for people belonging to six age groups, according to a press note.
These would be under age 7, 9,11,13,15 and 17. Boys and girls would both be allowed to participate in the event which would be played in a maximum of 7 Swiss league rounds with 90 minutes time for each round. A total of 24 trophies and 36 medals would be awarded the players.
Players from Pune district are eligible for the tournament for which the entry fees is Rs. 100 and the last date for registration is January 22. Only 180 registrations would be accepted. Deepak Shikarpur, who has written 12 books in Marathi aiming at spreading computer literacy, has been appointed coordinator for the 83rd Akhil Bharathiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan to be held in the city at SP College grounds from March 26-28.
