City-based B-School launches a new course in ‘golf management’
Indian Express: The city-based International School Of Corporate Management (ISCOM) on Wednesday announced the launch of a new course—a postgraduate degree in golf management.
“With the changing business environment and the growing golf industry there has to be a paradigm shift,” said Professor Keshav Rae, director of ISCOM.
The duration of the programme will be two years, in which the students will be acquainted with all the aspects of managing a golf and country club, right from the maintenance of the grass and machinery to the hospitality arrangements and human resources. They will spend time studying all the activities that go into the upkeep and management of a golf and country club, along with typical management subjects such as marketing, finance, business and logistics.
The final semester will give each student an opportunity to spend six months at the Royal and Ancient Golf Club in St.Andrews , Scotland. This has been made possible due to a collaboration between ISCOM and the Elmwood College in Scotland , and a graduate of the PGPGM would receive a dual degree from both institutions, which is approved by the Scottish Qualification Authority, the governing body of the sport in the country. The entire programme has been designed by Brig. Dileep Gole (Retd).
