Restaurant review- Asian Melange
Okay, I love this restaurant! I have loved Asian Melange ever since I first visited it about six months ago to attend a friend’s party and I continue to frequent it. Specializing in a number of cuisines from Asia, the specialty restaurant is located near the Karve statue, in Kothrud.
The restaurant spreads across three floors and still is surprisingly difficult to spot as its name has been displayed at the very top of the building. So watch out for that or look for a tree which is beautifully decorated in yellow garland lights that stands right in front of the restaurant.
Step inside and you find yourself in an elaborately decorated room. This dining area on the ground floor is ideal for quiet and relaxed meals with family and guests. I personally love dining on the second floor which has been essentially set up for private parties. It boasts of gorgeous decor and a cool cocktail bar. The room has been meticulously designed, with partial wooden ceilings, bamboo curtains and soft lighting which add to the overall dining experience. The terrace also serves as an open air diner with candle-light dinner and barbeque at the table.
When it comes to food, I recommend starting with the Chicken Manchow soup to build an appetite and the Angarwala Kebab which is served flaming hot. The cheese stuffed Chicken Rosali Kebab and Chicken Szechuan also make for great starters. For the main course, the Mutton biryani and the Burnt Garlic rice ordered with any Chinese gravy are definitely worth a try. The Caramel custard, Date pancakes and Sizzling brownie are as good as they can get and make for a delectable way to end your meal.
Moreover, the staff is attentive and polite and provide quick service. But expect a little delay when you are dining on the terrace as the food takes a little longer to arrive on the table. Considering the upmarket decor, the prompt service and the high quality of food served, Asian Melange is very very reasonably priced. I vividly remember how pleasantly surprised I was after looking at the bill on my first visit. A complete meal for two minus the drinks will put you back by Rs. 600-800.
So on a scale on 1 to 10, I would give Asian Melange an overall rating of 8.
