Westin Pune Koregaon Park hotel launches Indian restaurant, Kangan

Indiamart: Indophiles in the city were in for a treat on Sunday, as the Westin Pune Koregaon Park launched its Indian restaurant – Kangan, against a backdrop of haute Indian couture, courtesy Nivedita Saboo.

Kangan is the first of its kind, across the Westin’s in the world. This is a welcome addition to the existing concept restaurants like Prego and Seasonal Tastes and it carries the elegance of the brand’s signature style with charismatic aplomb.

The evening was a sari affair as Nivedita Saboo, the acknowledged doyenne of Indian fashion, led the guests on a journey of delight with a varied display of saris of every hue and glitter. A bevy of lissome beauties showcased Saboo’s creations for the pleasure of the high profile guests that included Gauri Bhosale, Sabina Sanghvi, Sandhya Gokhale, Dr.Vidya Yeravdekar, Shribala Chordia, Mrs. Shobha Dhariwal, Janhavi Dhariwal, Sulekha Nyati, Gauri Naiknavare, Nikita Kasat, Mrunal Pawar and many others.

Nasir Shaikh, the personable F & B Director, played host for the evening, and the credit for the concept and planning of Kangan’s launch goes to him and Sandit Shah, Director Sales & Marketing.

The fashion event was followed by a sit down dinner at Kangan, where guests were treated to a gourmet’s feast with an array of delicacies from Chef Mahendra Rathod’s bounty of plenty. Westin believes in creating a sensory rich environment for its guests and Kangan fully lives up to this promise. Kangans, bangles in English, from whence the restaurant’s name is derived are in evidence everywhere from the entrance to the gigantic, crystal studded hoops that make up the chandeliers. The five star elegance of the restaurant blends well with a refreshing laid-back ambience and the allure of the place extends to its menu, which is a pleasant surprise, priced to fit the average pocket.

According to Nasir, quality and authenticity is the key to the food in Kangan, combined with warm, friendly and prompt service… at Kangan you’re at home. The glass walled kitchen treats culinary-inclined patrons to a view of their meal being prepared. It is also a walk-in facility where guests are not only permitted but welcomed, so compliments to the chef can be delivered impromptu and in person.
