PMC now levy a fire cess on all high-rise building
Sakaal Times: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will now levy a fire cess on all high-rise building within 10 km beyond PMC area after the state government made it mandatory for all municipal corporations to provide fire services to areas adjoining to them.
Apart from the cess, all buildings higher than 15 metres will have to seek no objection certificate from the fire department.
The PMC holds that it does not have the financial resources to provide services to adjoining areas as they fail to meet the requirements even within its own jurisdiction. The only way to partially raise the resources required would be by levying the additional beneficiaries with a cess, a docket put by the PMC administration before the standing committee, which cleared it on Tuesday.
The final implementation will however be made only after a clearance from the PMC general body and the state government.
