Food poisoning hits 19 students at PCMC school
Times of India: Nineteen standard IV students of the PCMC-run primary school No 92 in the Mhetrevasti area of Chikhali suffered food poisoning on Wednesday after eating ‘khichdi’ served as mid-day meal.
The students, who started vomiting and complained of uneasiness immediately after eating the ‘khichdi’ at 9.30 am, were admitted to the Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital (YCMH).
“Six of the students, who were administered saline, are under observation. The remaining 13 students were discharged in the afternoon after treatment,” A D Jagdale, health supervisor at YCMH, told TOI.
Municipal education board chairman Arjun Thakre said, “A self-help group (SHG) associated with Yamunanagar Mahila Aghadi supplies ‘khichdi’ as part of the mid-day meal scheme to the school. We have directed the SHG to stop supplying ‘khichdi’.”
