Emergency medicine course at Jehangir Hospital

Indian Express: Jehangir hospital has become the first one in the state and fourth in the country to be accredited for the Diploma course in Emergency Medicine conducted by the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), UK and Medvarsity, Hyderabad. The one-year residential course for MBBS doctors designed to impart high quality education and hands-on experience in managing all types of emergencies.

The accreditation is granted by the RCGP and Med varsity after assessing hospital’s Emergency Medical Services and the standard of education.

Dr Manisha Bobade, consultant in Emergency and Critical Care Medicine, who is heading the Accident and Emergency Department of Jehangir Hospital, has been appointed as the course co-ordinator for the course. We have also received accreditation for Diploma in Family Medicine course from RCGP, U.K’ added Dr. Bobade.

This accreditation followed rigorous assessment by Dr. Garth Manning (FRCP) of RCGP, U.K and Dr. S. S. Reddy, Director – Medvarsity, Hyderabad.

According to George Eapen, CEO of Jehangir Hospital, the experts from RCGP were particularly impressed by the breadth of clinical cases being managed at Jehangir Hospital and the emergency facilities being offered, especially the 1066 Emergency Medical Services.
