Speaking about the competition, Hilda David of the English Drama Circle, said: “The drama circle has always believed that theatre is a medium for exploring various issues with young people. Our work in the past few years has provided insights into both performance and interactive elements, with young people in a key role. This year we will pay tribute to Harold Pinter.”
The Symbiosis English Drama Circle was started in 2001 under the guidance of David with a view to bringing together all those interested in theatre. The circle since then has gone from strength to strength. Every year since its inception, it has had one major play production of playwrights like Henrik Ibsen, Arthur Miller, Tennessee Williams and Eugene Ionesco. The circle is also responsible for co-ordinating various inter-college competitions.
