Sketching and Painting Workshop at Aperture India
This workshop is a focused introduction to the classic genre of Landscape, Still Life. Portrait and abstract Painting. Students learn to indicate simple form with a single light source using form shadows, cast shadows and warm and cool colours. Emphasis is placed on refining composition with cropping, overlapping and placement in the picture plane. The watercolour session explores the basic techniques and materials used in watercolour painting. Students get introduced to transparent application, flat brush, graded wash, dry brush and wet on wet techniques.

Khidkya – Marathi Play
Max Mueller Bhavan and Maharashtra Cultural Centre present a play about an old woman taking solace in the Internet and facing an identity crisis.
In what is a standing example of cross-border transliteration, Max Mueller Bhavan and Maharashtra Cultural Center bring to Pune a fascinating amalgamation of contemporary German and Marathi theatre Khidkya (Windows). The Marathi play is a translation of the German play Inward, written by Clemens Madge, portraying the life of a 70-year-old woman who gets obsessed with her virtual identity created on the internet while struggling with dementia in reality.

Bonjour India Festival
To strengthen the ties between India and France, the Bonjour India Festival will be held in Pune throughout December and January where the European nation will showcase different facets of the country to Indians.
The Bonjour India Festival will be inaugurated on December 10 by Francois Pujolas, consul general of France and head of French Economic Mission, at Symbiosis Vishwabhavan, Senapati Bapat road. The festival will go on till the end of January, 2010.
This will be followed by Opus a Kath,’ a Kathak and contemporary dance choreography by French dancer Isabelle Anna and her dance troupe. “The festival is aimed as showcasing French culture in India. The festival was conceived last year when French president Nikolas Sarkozy was in India on an official visit,” said Luc Didon, director of Alliance Francaise de Poona.
The festival is travelling to 13 Indian cities, Pune being one of them. A series of eight different events have been planned to showcase the art, culture, society and industry of France, in India. An exhibition on French industrial design will be held from January 9 to 25, 2010 at Ishanya. Designs and structures that are iconic to French architecture, society, interior design, art and industry, will be showcased in this exhibition.
Science being an important part of the Bonjour India Festival, a set of eight lectures by French scholars and scientists have been planned till December 17 in Pune.
Paris-based Indo-French jazz group, the Sharik Hasan Paris Trio, will perform live on December 16 at the Mazda Hall in Camp. Moriarty, one of the most popular folk, country, blues, jazz and cabaret pop bands from France, will present their act at Ishanya Amphitheater on December 22.
Marion Baglan: A Lyric Opera Concert from France will be presented at the Mazda Hall on January 12, 2010. Fifty years of French New Wave cinema will showcase eight cinematic masterpieces by French greats like Francois Truffaut, Jean-Luc Godard and Alaine Resnais, among others, at the Pune International Film Festival 2010, from January 7 to 14, 2010.
“We want to show the diversity of France through these programmes. In 2011, we will showcase the diversity of India in France through a similar set of programmes,” said Didon.
In October this year, Alliance Francaise had announced a national-level short animation film competition. The winners of the competition will be announced in January 22, 2010. The winner will get the opportunity to get internship at the best French school of cinema and animation. The event will be held at DSK Supinfocom School of Design.
With a view to inform India students about educational opportunities in France, an education fair, Campus France’ will be held on January 29, 2010 at the AISSMS College of Hotel Management.

The combination of talent and honour defines Hoonur, a talent search web portal. The auditions for the same will be held in eight cities across India — Pune, Delhi, Lucknow, Jaipur, Ahemdabad, Raipur, Kolkata and Mumbai — in the coming days. “It’s probably time I give back to the industry that gave me so much,” stated Ekta Kapoor. “Pune has always been known for its rich performing arts and we kick-start our nationwide talent hunt with this youthful city,” she added.

Silent Rhythm – Painting Exhibition
Silent Rhythm – A Group Show of Beautiful Painting by Ramchandra & Varsha Kharatmal.
In Silent Rhythm Ramchandra has developed this quilt series of paintings and taken them to another level altogether. He has now used this quilt theme to express human love between man and woman. The pursuit of Radha and Krishna type of eternal love are expressed in the imagery of Ramchandra. The male in blue and female in earthy colour sleeping blissfully under the colourful quilt is a very subtle image expressing the quest for true love by man.
Varsha a pass-out of Kala Mahavidaylaya, Satara, right from her childhood she had a burning desire to script her emotions on a canvas through the medium of pictures and colours. She was blessed with imagination and had an extraordinary talent in mixing and making of colour schemes. She used her talent to the maximum which is clearly reflecting in her artwork. Her flair and genius could not go unnoticed and fetched her widespread recognition and several prizes from the acclaimed Art institutes of India. Her vibrant colours and lively paintings constantly keep hearty dialogue with the connoisseurs. Her colourful paintings display the series of lady subjects with unique compositions. Inspired by Ajanta Caves in India and Miniature Art of Ancient India Varsha has developed her own style. With bright colours on canvas Varsha’s Women series depicts the rich culture and tradition of India. Varsha is handicapped. She can’t hear or speak.
