DRDO to host energy materials conference
Indian Express: The High Energy Material and Research Laboratory (HEMRL), a lab of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) is all set to host the “Seventh International High Energy Materials Conference and Exhibit (HEMCE-2009)” from December 8 to December 10.
Considering the global trends, the major focus of this event will be on advanced propellant systems, high performance explosives including insensitive munitions, eco-friendly pyrotechnics, nano materials and novel high-energy dense materials, said a DRDO spokesperson.
This is being organised under the aegis of the High Energy Materials Society of India (HEMSI) and will be inaugurated by the Padma awardee V K Saraswat, scientific advisor to Raksha Mantri and Secretary, Department of Defence, R & D and DG, DRDO.
A DRDO spokesperson said that Dr. S. Sivram, Director, NCL, Pune will be the Guest of Honour. “The conference will be attended by about 450 delegates including eminent scientists and technologists from various institutions like the ISRO, DGOF, CSIR, BARC, in addition to the DRDO,” he said.
Over 32 renowned experts from seven other countries like US, UK, Russia, France, Israel, China and Malaysia will also be attending the conference. About 250 technical papers on contemporary topics will be presented in oral and poster sessions at HEMRL.
