Symbiosis International
Symbiosis International, Pune is one of the premier educational institutes in India. It was established 35 years ago by Mr. Shantaram Mazumdar, with an aim that students from all over the world could live, study, eat, sing and dance together, at Symbiosis Institute, Pune and go back as friends and ambassadors of this nation.
Today, Symbiosis has more than 33 schools, colleges and institutes; spread over 9 campuses in Pune, Nasik and Kolhapur, conducting more than 120 courses for about 90,000 students coming from 33 nations all over the world.
Among these three institutes namely, the Symbiosis Institute of International Business, the Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management and the Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research have been in the news lately for their noteworthy contribution in the field of education.
Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB)
The Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB) is already carving a name for itself as a B-school with a global perspective, focusing on providing education and developing skills that have a global, contemporary relevance.
The SIIB MBA – Energy & Environment is a MBA with a difference – creating niche skills with far-reaching, global prospects. SIIB also offers another MBA in Agri Business which is of growing relevance and importance. India is an agrarian country to a large extent. The nation needs Agri reforms and modern, professional agri-business management. The Agrarian sector is immensely challenging for professionals as well as and entrepreneurs. SIIB has affiliations with International Universities and also has MoUs with international universities like the Bremen University of Applied Sciences (Germany) and Oakland University (USA) for faculty as well as student exchange programmes and research.
Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management
The second institute, the Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management is India’s only B-School that specializes in Operations Management. It has been awarded with the Dewang Mehta Best B-School Award for Academic Inputs (Syllabus) 2009.
This programme is only meant for the engineers who SIOM believes have the necessary background, knowledge and mindset to develop the strong Techno-Business skills which are extremely pivotal for excellence in Operations Management.
“SIOM is a competency building institute, just a couple of years old, with phenomenal achievements. Our vision is ‘Empowering Operations excellence’ in every business activity of corporate by supplying the exact competencies required” claims SIOM’s Director, Dr. Vandana Sonwaney.
SIOM is also an authorized examination centre for CPIM (Certified Production and Inventory Management) under “The Association for Operations Management”, USA (formerly known as American Production and Inventory Control Society i.e. APICS). Students are provided with training on the Six Sigma philosophy and every student conducts a live project on Six Sigma in the industry.
Being one of the very few management institutes in India that has a dedicated and fully functional SAP Lab, SIOM students are offered more than 100 hours of training in SAP.
They also conduct an interactive seminar known as CONVERGE, where academicians and industry partisans meet to discuss contemporary topics such as Supply Chain Management, Six Sigma etc.
Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies & Research (SICSR)
And last but not the least, the Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies & Research (SICSR) is a technology institute that is dedicated towards providing the best IT cum Management education and promoting research and entrepreneurship in the field of Information Technology (IT).
Aiming to develop industry-ready professionals who will be sought-after by industry worldwide, SICSR frequently conducts interactive seminars with industry professionals. It is trying to collaborate with globally-recognized corporations such as Prometric, Cyberoam, Avaya, Microsoft Education, IBM and HP Education.
SICSR intends to create state of the art IT infrastructure. These technologies include a Gigabit LAN, Virtualization Technologies, academics via Learning Management Systems (LMS) like Moodle.
