Hot Nano, the designer version of Tata Nano
Pune Mirror: If you thought the Nano was cute, get ready for a spicier version — Hot Nano. It’s renowned car designer Dilip Chhabria’s take on the people’s car from Tata Motors and it has been designed at the designer’s plant in Chinchwad.
Your regular Nano will get a DC makeover with the styling kit which includes amongst other things side skirts and customised front and rear bumpers. The add-on kit will cost Rs 80,000.
Speaking to Mirror, Chhabria said that the Hot Nano was designed in Pune. He added, “The Nano opened up a whole new segment which could now afford to buy cars.
Earlier, it was different, with the most basic car costing Rs 3 lakh. To that we added our development cost. With the Nano, we realised that people could have a unique vehicle for about Rs 2.5 lakh.”
The Nano launch combined with DC Design Private Limited tie-up with Carnation Auto India Ltd has fueled Chhabria’s push into the mass market.
“Now, we have a different section in our company which looks into mass markets. Also, the tie-up with Carnation makes it possible for us to have volume,” Chhabria added.
