Max Mueller Bhavan to open vocational training centre

Sakaal Times: Goethe Institut, Max Mueller Bhavan, German language teaching institute in the city will be adding a vocational training centre to its fold.

“Taking our commitment and 50-year journey forward we have thought of a vocational training centre, which will add to the language and technical skills of employees of varied companies of German background, which are in Pune,” said Dr Kaus-Dieter Lehmann, president, Goethe-Institut network worldwide.

He was speaking while inaugurating an exhibition — ‘50 years of Max Mueller Bhavan in Pune’ on Sunday at the Max Mueller Bhavan. The vocational training centre will be financed by the German government and the training centre will provide inter-cultural skill sets for corporate employees.

He also highlighted the importance of Pune in the scheme of Indo-German bilateral relations as ‘very special’ because of the long and rich association of Germany and Pune.

Jazz band Thaerichen’s Tentett will be performing on the November 21.

Another event would be ‘Inwardly,’ a drama performed by Schauspielhaus Hamburg, adopted and directed by Girish Joshi in Marathi and translated by Sunanda Mahajan.

There will also be a youth film festival from November 28 to December 1 at the SM Joshi centre from 4 pm onwards.

Dr Mohan Agashe’s contribution to bringing German theatre and Marathi theatre closer was also appreciated by those present. Dr Stefan Dreyer, regional director, Max Mueller Bhavan, South Asia, Michael Flucht, director, Max Mueller Bhavan and his wife Barbara Flucht were also present.
