Bagwe hopes for sports or home portfolio
Sakaal Times: Representing the city in the state cabinet after a gap of six years, Congress MLA from Pune Cantonment Ramesh Bagwe is hoping for sports or home portfolio.
“I am delighted that the party is recognising my three decades of public service and gave me this responsibility. Besides, it is also an opportunity to serve my community, which has stood by me all these years,” Bagwe, a second-time MLA told Sakaal Times after his swearing-in.
On the portfolio he would prefer, Bagwe said that the party had assured him of either sports, home or transport department.
Bagwe’s inclusion is believed to have strengthened the Kalmadi camp within the Pune Congress unit, while the other contender for inclusion in the state cabinet was a strong Narayan Rane supporter and former Shiv Sena MLA Vinayak Nimhan.
The city had no representation in two successive state cabinets.
Bagwe won his second election which was almost a one-sided affair, with a margin of 37,325 votes which was the highest in the city.
