Uniform must for automen, cabbies
Sakaal Times: Drivers of autorickshaws and cabs will have to compulsorily wear a uniform along with badge from next month.
A decision in this regard was taken at a joint meeting of city traffic police, Regional Transport Office (RTO) and Regional Transport Authority (RTA) held in the last week of October.
Speaking to Sakaal Times, RTA member Baba Shinde said the move has been initiated in the wake of autorickshaw and cab drivers being found involved in several crimes.
“The compulsion of wearing uniform and badge for autorickshaw drivers will help put a check on unauthorised autorickshaws,” he said.
As per the decision by authorities, autorickshaw drivers will have to wear khaki shirt and pants and the owner, if driving, has to wear white shirt and pants. Cab drivers will have to wear the uniform alloted by the company.
The regulations were to be implemented from mid of this month, but autorickshaw drivers sought a 15-day extension.
