Piped natural gas in Chinchwad today
Sakaal Times: The wait for residents of Empire Estate in Chinchwad for Piped Natural Gas (PNG) is finally over as the Maharashtra Natural Gas Ltd (MNGL) is set to supply the eco-friendly fuel to them from Saturday.
More than 1,000 residents from this society and Swapnanagari society have registered for PNG connections. They will become the first PNG consumers in the entire district.
“The trial runs of PNG lines at Empire Estate are over. We will supply PNG to consumers from Saturday. Daily 20 to 25 consumers will get PNG connections,” MNGL deputy general manager (marketing) AG Dharwad told Sakaal Times on Friday. “Safety has been the top priority. Proactive measures are being taken for strengthening safety and security and uninterrupted supply,” he said.
Dharwad said that the source of PNG supply for Pune district is Dahej-Uran and Dabhol-Panvel pipeline of GAIL (India).
“A District Regulating Station has been set up near Pune-Mumbai highway, while some service regulators have been installed in the Empire Estate. The gas passes to cooking appliances through several valves and meter regulator, which reduces PNG pressure to desirable limit,” he said.
MNGL officials said plans to supply PNG to Pune city will turn into reality once the work of laying a pipeline up to PMPML depot at Narveer Tanaji Wadi is over. “The work of laying a pipeline between CME gate and Harris bridge in Dapodi is in progress and PNG supply to Pune will start after this stretch is over in the next few months,” Dharwad said.
