The British Library

The British Library is one of the main libraries in India, with 9 branches across various cities. Established in 1960, the Library has undergone several changes to meet the demands of the cosmopolitan crowd. Located on FC road, the British Library holds a rich collection of books, dictionaries, encyclopedias, journals, DVDs, CDs, research papers and other publications from India and the UK.
British Library aims at offering the best in English literature to its ever increasing member base which currently stands at 10,000+. Be it management, law, medicine, engineering, literature, history or fiction, the British Library has plenty of books that cover all these topics and more. The library periodically updates its collection with the latest releases that appeal to infants, youths, adults and the old.
Being a member of the British Library is a prestigious affair mainly because of its overwhelming popularity and also for the other recreational activities it organises. The library holds several events like book launch, exchange and growth program, reviews and food festivals for its members all through the year. The library recently started conducting workshops on Mondays for the growth and betterment of students. The library invites experts from various fields to conduct workshops on soft skills, business communication and other topics that can equip students with all the tools they need to build a successful career.

Also as a member you get to buy books from British library at discounted rates. Your membership card is valid across all branches in the country.
To become a member you can choose from the various membership programs that include, Individual plan, Junior Family, Senior Family and Classic Family. Depending upon the program you choose, your annual fees and number of books and DVDs offered at one time will differ.
The British Library is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 11:00 to 19:00 hours and on Sunday from 11:00 to 18:00 hours.
