Street Food Review- Z Bridge Kulfiwala
The kulfiwala near the Deccan 2 wheeler bridge has been the talk of the town for several years now. Popularly known as the ‘Z Bridge Kulfiwala’, the original name of this place is Vrundavan Kulfi Ice cream. Located right at the end of Z Bridge which leads into J.M. Road, the eatery is run by Sharma proprietors.
This eating joint constitutes of nothing more than a small stall with an inbuilt cold storage for the kulfi. Don’t expect any seating arrangements as it offers none and you’ll have to eat the kulfi standing up. What’s more, you’ll have to pretty much fight your way through the crowd to the stall to place your order and out again after you collect it- a byproduct of the kulfiwala’s surging popularity over the years. It is actually quite astonishing to see the guys serve so many impatient customers every single evening.
After reading this, if you are thinking against visiting this place, let me stop you right there and remind you that all good things come at a price. Once you have braved the crowd, walked back with your kulfi and tasted it, I assure you that you won’t have any regrets because the kulfi is really out of this world. As soon as you take a bite, it simply melts into your mouth leaving behind a very rich flavour.
Talking about flavour, this kulfi place offers one too many options and making a choice can get real tough. Right from the usual ones like malai, pista, mix and chocolate to the seasonal varieties like raspberry, chikku, orange, mango, anjir and Gulkand, Vrundavan Kulfiwalla serves it all. All these flavours are priced between 20 to 25 Rupees for a plateful which is very good considering the quantity of each serving.
Moreover, the kulfiwala also accepts party orders and is open all through the week after 5pm. If you wish you to have a hassle free kulfi experience, I recommend visiting this place early in the evening because it is starts getting more crowded in the late hours.
