Chain-snatchers run riot in city
Indian Express: As many as three chain-snatching incidents were reported in the city on Saturday, of which two were in the area under the jurisdiction of the Wanowrie police station.
A 32-year-old woman was robbed of her gold chain worth Rs 45,000 near the Ghorpadi Football Ground around 5 pm on Saturday. “Shilpa Sandbhor and her husband Ajay were travelling on a motorcycle when two unidentified persons on a bike snatched her gold chain,” said sub-inspector PS Mandle.
In another incident near the Military Hospital, Wanowrie, two unidentified persons on a bike snatched a gold chain worth Rs 32,000 from Achala Adhikari, who along with her husband was travelling on a two-wheeler on Dhole Patil Road. The third incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Khadak police station. Prakash Vohra and his wife Chandrakala were on a bike on Sunday evening in Shukrawar Peth area when two persons on a motorcycle snatched Chandrakala’s gold chain worth Rs 83,000.
