Load-shedding due to less power from Tata Company
Sakaal Times: The renewed load-shedding in some parts of the city is because of less supply of power from Tata Power Trading Company Limited (TPTCL), said Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation Ltd (MSEDCL) chief engineer (Pune Zone) S P Nagtilak.
“There is no set pattern for load-shedding, but the supply of power from TPTCL to MSEDCL is less at the moment, which has resulted in renewed power cuts,” Nagtilak told Sakaal Times on Tuesday.
He said that the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) had scheduled a public hearing on the load-shedding protocol next month. The commission would then be able to reach a conclusion on the matter and issue necessary directives.
Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation Ltd deputy chief public relations officer C A Gurav said that the current load-shedding mechanism depended on power availability with MSEDCL. However, he pointed out that day-long power cuts on Thursdays were being implemented to undertake maintenance work for the forthcoming festive season.
He said that at present MSEDCL received power from TPTCL on a day ahead set-up on the basis of which the distribution company charted out the power cut schedule for the city. “There is a requirement of 171 MW for Pune as of now,” Gurav replied when asked about the current shortage of power for the city.
Meanwhile, the power distribution utility has divided parts of the city into two groups namely A and B for the purpose of power cuts.
