Inter-corporate Cultural Festival
The second edition of Impulse ’09′ an inter-corporate cultural fest with dance, music and singing competitions for corporate executives is back. Starting from October 2, the three-day festival will be held at Krishna Sunder Garden near Mhatre Bridge. Last date for registration is September 25.
Corporate professionals can participate in competitions under the following categories: solo singing, group dance, solo instrumental, couple dance, mono-acting, painting, rangoli’ and musical performances.
Well-known music composer Rahul Ranade is also a part of the event team. Along with eminent artists Dhananjay Sastkar and Tanushree, Ranade will mentor the participants in the finer nuances of performing arts through the workshop.
Participants will be judged by well-known personalities and celebrities in the fields of dance, music, singing and fine arts. Along with the cultural fest, Impulse 09′ will also house a cross-industry exhibition of service providers from entertainment, leisure, hotels and resorts, art and culture, and travel and tourism, to name some.

Summer 09 – Inter-University Sports Meet
The annual national level inter-university sports meet, ‘Summit ‘09’ will be held from September 30 to October 4 at the Maharashtra Institute of Technology. The annual event will see engineering colleges from across the country compete in various sports tournaments.
A total of 50 engineering colleges in the city will participate in ‘Summit ‘09’ while around 100 universities from outside Pune have been invited. The organisers expect around 15,000 spectators to attend the five-day event, he said.

Painting Exhibition on Wildlife
As the first week of October is celebrated as Wildlife Week, the department of forests, Pune circle, in association with Nature Walk and Indiaart Gallery, has organised a few interesting events in the city.
From October 1 to 9, a photography and painting exhibition depicting wild life will be held at Indiaart Gallery at Patrakarnagar, off Senapati Bapat road, from 10 am to 8 pm. The exhibition will be inaugurated by veteran cartoonist and illustrator Magesh Tendulkar on October 1. A K S Sinha, chief conservator of forests, Pune, will also be present on the occasion.
The exhibition will feature the best of wildlife from amateur and professional photographers and artists. Documentaries on wildlife will also be screened at the venue, especially for school children, during the week from 11 am to 12.30 pm.
Talks on various aspects of wildlife will be held at the art gallery by experts from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm. On October 1, a Vann Katta has been organised at Pachgaon Parvati Garden from 4 pm to 6 pm, during which forest department officials will dialogue with citizens on their participation in preserving forests and wildlife.
On October 4, a workshop on orthopaedic ailments and their treatment will be held at Sinhagad. Patients can undergo free check-ups as well. This has been jointly organised by the department of forests and Naik hospital. Well-known surgeon and ornithologist Satyasheel Naik will hold the workshop with a team of doctors.

Waves art gallery enters its fourth phase of exhibiting graphic art by an assortment of contemporary Indian artists. The first three phases of this series featured a variety of Graphic Art such as Lithographs, Etchings and Serigraphs. However, ‘Contemporary Graphics IV’ opening on the 2nd October 2009, in particular features Serigraphs by Bengali artists.

ITF Tennis Futures Tournament
The $15000 Deccan Gymkhana-AITA Men’s ITF Tennis Futures Tournament that begins on October 3 will feature not only internationally ranked junior players from various nations around the world, but also World No. 1 Junior Men’s player Yuki Bhambri in action.
The tournament will be held at the Deccan Gymkhana courts from October 3 and will go on till October 10. The tournament will offer a total prize money of 15000$ or Rs. 7.5 lakh for the winners.

Painting Exhibition on Horses
