Rail tickets will soon be available at post offices in Pune region
Sakaal Times: Rail tickets will soon be available at 101 post offices in Pune region, including 31 in the city.
Railways minister Mamata Banerjee had announced during the rail budget, the decision to make available the facility at over 5,000 post offices across the country.
Pune region postmaster general S S Jadodia said that 101 post offices in urban areas in the region were identified, where rail tickets would be sold.
“The post and rail authorities are currently working out the modalities. While the posts department will provide the space and manpower, the railways are expected to provide the necessary computer system for issuing the tickets. They will also train our employees in using the computerised system,” Jadodia said.
The post offices identified from the city for the facility are as follows: Akurdi, Aundh Camp, Bhosari, Chinchwad (east), Dapodi, Dighi camp, Kasarwadi, Hadapsar, Khadki, Market Yard, Pimpri-Chinchwad New Township, Pimpri Colony, Pimpri PF, Pune General Post Office, Wanowrie, Yerawada, Bajirao Road, Deccan Gymkhana, Dhankawadi, Ex-servicemen Colony, Kasba Peth, Model Colony, National Defence Academy (Khadakvasla), Nav Sahyadri Society, Parvati, Pune City Head Office, Range Hills, S P College, Shivajinagar, Swargate and Ganeshkhind.
