Pune-based KPO has initiated an ‘earn and learn’ model for commerce graduate

Pune Mirror: Amidst reports about slowdown and deteriorating job scene, here is some relief for freshers looking for employment opportunities. Director of a Pune-based Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) has generated an ‘earn and learn’ model for fresh commerce graduates, which guarantees employment and provides on the job training for free.

Shekhar Agharkar, director of Arthtech Consultants said, “The cost of training freshers would be recovered through the industry, as trained manpower would be available to the industry at a reasonable cost and without an increase in the employee head count.”

Agharkar has set up a separate company, Arthtech Knowledge Solutions Private Limited (AKSPL) as a model for the scheme. AKSPL recently incorporated big names like Dr Arun Nigavekar, Krishna Lawande and S K Jain on its advisory board. “AKSPL intends to provide training, HR consultation and management outsourced solutions. The aim is to impart free intensive job oriented training in accounts, finance as well as HR to empower raw and fresh graduates and develop them into employable graduates,”Agharkar said.

“We will begin with batch of 15 students and provide a classroom training for first six months. Then they will be made available to the industry at a reasonable cost for a period of two-years without increasing the employee head count, as they will be on the payrolls of AKSPL,” Agharkar explained.

He also added that the scheme will be launched in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Mumbai and Chennai along with Pune. The eligibility for enrolling in the scheme is B Com degree in first division and age limit is 21 years. “We will conduct written test followed by an interview, as the number of seats in limited,” Agharkar said.

Pointing out the highlights of the scheme, he said, “No training fees will be charged. Instead, trainees will be paid a stipend. The first pilot batch will be for 15 fifteen students and the subsequent batches will have a student strength of 20. The first batch would be made available to the industry in December 2009.”
