Shopping: Satguru’s
Owing to its rich experience of over 50 years in the Arts and Crafts industry, it won’t be wrong to associate Satguru’s with terms like luxury, magnificence and quality. Satguru’s Arts & Crafts Pvt. Ltd. has been among the leading art stores in Mumbai and Pune, offering quality artefacts and gifts that appeal to both, the domestic as well as the international clientele. It has been constantly churning out innovative artwork and gift products since 1948. Satguru’s runs a chain of retail stores which function as both, art galleries as well as retails outlets offering Indian handicrafts and artistic creations by Indian artists.
Realising that there is a large untapped customer base who are interested in buying religious handicrafts like frames of Indian gods and goddesses and artefacts such as paintings, statues, and murals, Satguru’s decided to bring all these art works under a single roof. After the success of their retails stores in Mumbai, Satguru’s opened their first ever retail shop in the Bund Garden area of Pune in April 2007.
This store has over 5000 unique artistic products under its wing. The different categories includes paintings- contemporary, ethnic and abstract; murals; statues- ethnic, religious and modern; exclusive Ganesha products; designer pots, clocks, ‘Urlis’, ‘Jharokhas’ and personalised design frames.
The anthology of the ‘Tanjore’ paintings is among the main attractions of the store. Satguru’s specialises in different kinds of paintings like water-colours, acrylic on canvas, oil on canvas as well as mixed media. The stocks are renewed periodically to ensure the customers keep coming back for more. These paintings cost in the range of Rs.8000 and above.
Apart from paintings, they offer an interesting selection of artistic murals and statues and have a separate section dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The first floor houses a variety of paintings, small figures as well as large statues of the Hindu god which are available on Rs.300.
Other artefacts on display include gemstone work on marble, sculptures of clay mixed with Plaster of Paris, sculptures of teak wood with a Rosewood finish, digitised paintings, customisable framed sketches and mirrors decorated with Egyptian Prince styled frames. The beautiful water fountain range starts by Rs.1500.
There is also a wide array of gift items to choose like wall hangings, intricately designed wooden key chains and personalised frames for all occasions. The charges depend upon the type of the frame and the magnitude of the framing job. The frames counter is located on the first floor of the store.
All products in the store are well organised and systematically categorized in different sections as per the genre of the artwork. This makes it very easy to go through the various products on offer. The attractive product display behind the massive window pane at the entrance of the store acts as a potent stimulant to lure art enthusiasts and collectors into the store.
Satguru’s is open at 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. all through the week.
