Misuse of water will invite penalty on citizens
Indian Express: With the water resource department declaring 20 per cent cut in water supply to the city due to reduction in available water in Khadakwasla because of the delayed monsoon this year, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on Wednesday urged the citizens for judicious use of available water as any misuse will invite penalty on citizens.
In a press statement, the PMC appealed that water scarcity has arisen in the city due to delay in monsoon and the available water should be used carefully.
State water resource minister Ajit Pawar had announced on June 19 that the city have to face a 20 per cent water cut due to reduction in water available in the Khadakwasla dam. The irrigation department has already started supplying less water to the water pumping stations of the PMC.
“It has been observed that the drinking water supply is used for washing vehicles. Thus, this should be stop immediately citizens will be penalized for misuse of water,” press statement said.
The PMC has also asked the citizens to avoid use of water in gardens and parks while opting for other sources like well, it said.
The overflow of water storage tank in each society should be stopped by installing ballcock.

The PMC has also asked the citizens to inform the civic administration if there is any leakage or damage to the water supply lines.
