Ruby Hall to launch a Centre for Advanced Gastrointestinal Oncology
Sakaal Times: Ruby Hall Clinic’s Kamalnayan Bajaj Cancer Centre will be launching a Centre for Advanced Gastrointestinal Oncology (CAGO) to deal exclusively with cases related to intestinal and abdominal cancer.
Speaking to the media, Dr Gajanan Kanitkar, surgical gastrointestinal oncologist, said, “Rapid changes in cancer treatment has brought in the era of super specialties. Specialties dedicated to treat a particular subtype of cancer have become necessary.
“In CAGO, patients would get specialised advanced care in stomach, large intestine, rectal, pancreatic, liver and other abdominal cancers.”
The centre will be formally launched on June 14, with a workshop on gastric cancers. Specialists from all over India would interact and set guidelines on management of gastric cancers, added Kanitkar.
Informing further about the services that are being offered, Dr Minish Jain, chief medical oncologist, said, “We would be running clinics under the CAGO facility on a daily basis at Ruby Hall Cancer centre. A 24 hour hot line for patients would be part of the services provided.”
A high fat diet, smoking and changes in lifestlye were the major reasons behind the rise in the cases of cancer in the country, said Dr Jain.
“In CAGO, patients would get specialised advanced care in stomach, large intestine, rectal, pancreatic, liver and other abdominal cancers”.
