Musical Baithak
On the occasion of Gandharva Mahavidyalaya’s 77th foundation day, the academy has organised a special programme of musicians and music lovers in a uniquely informal setting on May 10.
Pramod Marathe, principal of Gandharva Mahavidyalaya and well-known harmonium player, said, “We have planned a gathering in an informal setting on May 10. This is an opportunity for musicians and music enthusiasts to have a healthy exchange of ideas, which is not possible during a concert or a music programme.”
Musicians from all over the city have been invited for the function, where they will be able to mingle with music fans. “We will also seek these experts’ advice on how to improve the courses and music programmes conducted in and by Gandharva Mahavidyala,” said Marathe.
Tabla players Arvind Thatte and Suresh Talwalkar, vocalist Sanjeev Abhyankar and classical dancers Sucheta Bhide-Chapekar (Bharatnatyam) and Maneesha Sathe (Kathak) are some of the star invitees for the evening.
The academy also desires to bridge the gap between aspiring musicians and music teachers or gurus. Thus, it will soon launch its own web portal in collaboration with www.shadjamadhyam.com. Through this website, music courses will be made available online through the facility i-Gurukul.
