Politicians order bulletproof luxury vehicle for their election campaign
Mid-day: On the lines of actor Sanjay Dutt who had spent a whopping Rs 3 crore for his custom made advanced recreational vehicle, at least three netas have ordered similar Volvo luxury buses. However, they’ll be using these swanky vehicles for their election campaign.
Made by Chinchwad-based DC Designs, these vehicles are equipped with all the modern amenities. Also, the vehicle can resist terror attacks, as it is bullet proof.
“It can even withstand the force of bullets fired from an AK 47 assault rifle,” said, Dilip Chhabria, MD of DC Designs. He added that the vehicle has specially designed tyres that are made by Run Flat system.
“Even if the tyres get punctured, the vehicle can still run at a speed of 50 kmph for a distance of 80 km,” said the designer who had designed the ‘rath’ for BJP leader L K Advani that he used for his month-long Bharat Suraksha Yatra in 2004.
According to Chhabria, the vehicle is equipped with satellite TV connection, front and rear camera screen, public addressing system with speakers and flash lights, satellite dish antenna, refrigerator, coffee making machine, intercom and a vacuum potty.
“The vehicles have a high roof to enable the politicians address public from the roof top. Also, it has an electric motorised lift for campaigning with a platform, operating controls, roof hatch, Intercom and a storage cabinet,” said Chhabria. But when enquired who has ordered the vehicles and how much will it cost, Chhabria said, “I cannot disclose that as my client does not permit me to divulge such details.”
