High standard facilities for Pune-Nagpur Garib Rath express
Punemirror: Central railways has recently started a Garib Rath express between Pune and Nagpur. Although this express is called a Garib Rath, the facilities in this train are of a high standard with a cheaper rates than other trains.
Narayan Rathva, union minister of state for railways inaugurated this Garib Rath from Pune to Nagpur on Monday. This is an tri-weekly express with 13 AC-3 tier, 2 AC generator cum Guards brake vans.
The idea of a Garib Rath is mainly for the people from poor class who cannot afford the costly tickets. So, Railways Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav introduced the concept. Although the name Garib Rath is associated with the 2113 Pune- Nagpur express, this express has some high standard facilities.
This train is fully air conditioned with comfortable berths. At the time of the inauguration D K Jain, divisional railway manager for Pune said, “We have installed a Global Positioning System (GPS) in every coach.
When the train reaches the train the system shows the details of the station and it also provides the information like on what time the train will reach the next station.”
Apart from this information the system also shows the present time and it also flashes some messages for social awareness on a digital display.
Apart from GPS, there is a refrigerating system in every coach where passengers can keep their eatables. These coaches also has ovens inside it and passengers can get a hot meal with the help of it.
The Railways have also decorated each coach by putting some wonderful paintings in this Garib Rath. With such facilities one would imagine that fares to be high, but as it is a Garib Rath the fares are as low as Rs 548 to Nagpur.
The normal express trains fare is Rs 896 for Nagpur. So the journey with the Garib Rath becomes cheaper by Rs 348. So people from poor class also can avail facilities.
The train leaves from Pune on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and the same train leaves from Nagpur to Pune on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. This train takes halts on Daund, Ahmednagar, Manmad, Bhusaval, Akola, Badnera, Wardha and Nagpur.
