IIT training institute brings new scheme for students

Indianexpress.com, Pune: Aspirants of IIT across the state can now bank on an assured placement in any of the IITs in the country. IIT Pratishthan, a training institute located at Paud Road, has come up with an idea of training 30 talented students across the state and if they fail to crack the IIT entrance, the institute will return the tuition fees with ten per cent interest.

Shantanu Deshpande, member of board of directors, IIT Pratishthan said, “The Pratishthan will choose 30 students from a test that is being held at various locations in the state. While it is already done in Solapur, Ratnagiri and Alibaug and Mumbai, the test is yet to take place in Nashik, Latur, Chiplun and Pune.” The test in the city that was to take place on Saturday has been postponed to Tuesday (November 25).

Any student who has cleared HSC are eligible to appear for the test. The 30 short listed students will undergo rigorous training in Hyderabad for 52 days where five IIT training experts including Girijashankar Acharya and Pravin Kasu will coach them. This course is scheduled from December 2 to January 26.

Deshpande said that if these students do not rank in IIT-JEE, the institute would return the tuition fees, which are Rs 42,350 with 10 per cent interest. The assurance will be given on the stamp paper, said Deshpande. The project is called Maha-30 and is based on Super-30 model developed by Anand Kumar and Abhayanand in Patna in 2003. The Super-30 project is giving 100 per cent result for the last three years, claims a press note issued by IIT Pratishthan.

The Pratishthan used to conduct this exam within its branches in Maharashtra. “This is the first time that we are extending it to external students,” Deshpande said.

He said that this would increase the number of students from Maharashtra getting in to IIT. For more information on the exam, the students can visit the website www.iitpratishthan.com or contact 2545 9549.
