Events this Weekend: Children’s Day Special

This weekend is a very special weekend as tomorrow is Children’s Day and I believe we owe the weekend to the kids. After all, this is the only day that celebrates innocence across the nation and it wouldn’t hurt to extend it a bit. Luckily Children’s Day happens to be a Friday and so kids have the weekend to encash. We at Punekar thought we could give suggestions so that all our readers’ kids can have a fab weekend.

Horse riding

For those who like the outdoors, one possibility is to ride off to Japalouppe in Talegaon for some horse riding. Japalouppe is open from 8.30 to 11.30 in the morning. The next session starts at 3.30 in the afternoon until daylight ends. This will also be a pleasant change for the elders: a fun weekend where even the young at heart can try a hand at horse riding. Now how often do we think of doing things like that? It is also possible to book an overnight stay at the cottage in Japalouppe. For booking details and charges, visit www.japalouppe.net.

Water parks

There are a number of water parks that have mushroomed at feasible distances around Pune. What better way to relax than by lazing in pools and enjoying fun water rides? Playing in water is something that most kids and teenagers enjoy.

Other suggestions

For those of you who are not in a mood to go out, how about taking your kid to the kitchen and preparing some sweets with him/her? Remember to tell them how cool it is that they have prepared the sweets themselves. You could also rent a movie. The ones that come in parts are a good idea so that you and your kids can do a movie marathon. Not sure which movies your kids would enjoy? Here are some suggestions:

Harry Potter (even if your kids have already seen these movies, they will never mind a repeat)

Home Alone (fun for grown ups as well)

Hanuman and Hanuman Returns

Honey I Shrunk the Kids and Honey I Blew Up the Kids

Look Who’s Talking and Look Who’s Talking too

So, we hope we have given you some pointers about how to make the most of this weekend. Now all you have to do is get out there and enjoy yourselves!
